Stacey Flood
Human
Resources Assistant
Most
of our customers have never had the pleasure of speaking with
Stacey Flood, but
every single Campus Partners employee has. As our Human Resources
Assistant, Stacey’s duties include everything from performing
new hire orientations to payroll benefits administration to coordinating
employee relations functions. Stacey says of her responsibilities,
“I do everything our employees need.”
After graduating from Howard University with a Bachelor of Arts
Degree in Elementary Education, Stacey taught elementary school
in Maryland for several years. She got her start in Human Resources
when she accepted a position at Aerotek in Greensboro, NC and
furthered her experience at Lowes Foods corporate headquarters
in Winston-Salem. She joined Campus Partners as Human Resources
Assistant in June of 2003. Stacey said she wanted to take a break
from teaching, so she tried Human Resources and loved it! So much
so, that she went back to school to obtain her Masters Degree
in Human Resources. “I had the work experience and now I
also have the text book knowledge to go along with it,”
Stacey said of her recent graduation from North Carolina A &
T State University.
Stacey says being in Human Resources is very challenging because
HR laws change constantly and you have to keep abreast of all
the modifications and remain in compliance. She credits Pat Shepherd,
Director, Human Resources, as being a tremendous help. Stacey
commented, “Pat is a wealth of knowledge. She really knows
her stuff.” Stacey said the most rewarding aspect of her
job is helping others. “I know it sounds cliché,”
Stacey expressed, “but I really do like helping people and
offering good customer service.” She continued to explain
with a smile, “All Campus Partners employees are my customers.”
Stacey’s dynamic personality and unwavering compassion make
her a natural for Human Resources. “If you need a smile
or a pep talk, with Stacey in charge of the face of HR, you will
leave her office feeling renewed and refreshed to carry on,”
felicitated her manager and Human Resources Director, Pat Shepherd.
Her motto is “give the world the best you have and the best
will come back to you.” “My mother taught me that,”
Stacey revealed, “and these are words I try to live by every
day.”
In addition to Stacey’s regular duties, she chairs two volunteer
committees at work. The Community Outreach Committee focuses on
needs in the community, holding food drives at Thanksgiving and
Christmas and donating to such charitable organizations as the
Salvation Army and Crisis Control Ministry. The committee is most
proud of their involvement in the Partners in Education program
that pairs the company with Wiley Middle School, which is located
a few miles from our office. With the help of employee contributions,
the committee provides school supplies and student honor roll
awards and donated to the school’s Hurricane Katrina Relief
Fund. The Activities Committee sponsors monthly contests and other
morale building events for employees. “I think it’s
important to do fun things at the office because it fosters a
positive work environment,” Stacey remarked.
The only girl and youngest of three, Stacey was born and grew
up in the small town of Murfreesboro, NC. She loves to roller
skate, read, listen to jazz and hip-hop music and travel. In fact,
one of her most vivid childhood memories is of a family vacation
to Arizona, where she visited the Grand Canyon.
At home, Stacey enjoys spending time with her “couch potato”
cocker spaniel, Coco, who has to watch Animal Planet while Stacey
is at work. “ I have to leave the TV on because he likes
to bark at the animals on the screen,” Stacey laughed. Movies
such as Boomerang and Love, Jones are more Stacey’s choice
for viewing.
Stacey says that for the future, she is looking forward to growing
professionally in her HR career at Campus Partners. As we continue
to grow as a company, Stacey’s possibilities are limitless.
Her education, positive attitude and uniqueness guarantee her
much success.
